At Gisburn Road we are trying to make parents
more aware of how their child is performing and what their child
needs to achieve in order to reach the next level.
Understanding National Curriculum
Levels

You may be aware that your child's attainment
from Year 1 onwards is measured in 'levels'. Children in Nursery
and Reception are assessed differently. This 'Early Years
Foundation Stage' assessment is currently under review by the
government. Details about this will be shared on this page soon.
The Government has set down target levels for children to attain at
the end of certain year groups. Each level is broken down
into 3 sublevels e.g. Level 2 is broken down into 2c, 2b, 2a.

How do we assess what level you child is working at?
We use APP (Assessing Pupil's
Progress) as part of this strategy. An example of what a child
is expected to be able to do at each sub level in writing is given
below.
PDF document showing attainments for each
level in writing.
How do I know what level my child is working at?
At the end of Year 2 and Year 6 you will receive a report
giving details of the level achieved by your child.
We have also begun to share this information with parents at
our termly Parents' Evenings.
