County and school policy states that, for safety reasons, no
child may wear earrings, wristwatches, necklaces or rings for PE,
Games or Swimming lessons. All jewellery must be removed at these
times because of the potential injury to the wearer and other
children.
If your child wears earrings, we ask that they wear studs and for
parents to ensure that children can remove and replace them
themselves. If they are unable to do so, then we ask that they are
not worn for school. Staff are not allowed to remove or replace
earrings.
If earrings cannot be removed because the ears have
recently been pierced, then parents should provide plasters for the
child to cover the earrings during P.E. until the ears have healed.
Earrings are NOT allowed at the swimming baths.
We hope that parents will help their children to be organised
with their P.E. kit and to avoid jewellery on P.E. days, so that
they can have full access to the P.E. curriculum.
The simplest solution to all these problems is for children not
to wear any jewellery at all for school, and we ask parents'
co-operation in this.
